Tollywood big heroes, the so-called Big4 Chiranjeevi, Nagarjuna, Balakrishna, and Venkatesh have ruled the TFI for over 25 years. Though Chiru has quit from the race since four years, the latest developments says the Mega Star is making his re-entry shortly. The four big guns who ruled the roosts and created many Box-Office records by bagging several prestigious awards have reached their peaks in their career. However, the biggies are continuing to play the lead roles for few more years and so, these senior stars believe that it is time to experiment different genres by taking their career to the next level… we are yet to see how the fans will receive the new trends and experiments of their favorite stars.
Chiranjeevi has recently announced that his 150th film is ON. He is gearing up to don the grease paint again and hit back the screens after four long years. Chiru’s last flick was Shankar Dada Zindabad while he has done a cameo in Magadheera. Chiru has decided to complete his 150th film after requests from his millions of his fans, family and well-wishers, which will be produced by Ram Charan. The Mega Star is planning for a film that will be loaded with a social message keeping in sync with his new-found status as a political leader. Chiru is taking all the measures for this milestone film and the mega fans can expect a sensational film that conveys an underlying message. Even before stepping into the politics, Chiru chose scripts that conveys social message to the audiences. Indra, Tagore, Stalin are the prime examples.
Nandamuri Bala Krishna’s majority of his films in his successful journey in Tollywood are commercial and mass masala. The actor currently has Mahadevanaidu and Hara Hara Mahadeva that falls under the above genre. Nevertheless, the Yuvaratna is also giving his nod to experiments these days. The actor agreed to play a special role in Oo Kodathara Ulikki Padathara sharing screen space with Manchu Manoj. Bala Krishna informed that he was impressed with the story and his role in this socio-fantasy flick. It is well-known that Balayya is passionate about mythological genre and so the actor has got back to his much loved genre with Bapu directorial Sri Rama Rajyam. The inside buzz is that Bala Krishna is also in plans of remaking the evergreen classic Narthanasala.
Nagarjuna is known for his versatile roles and is probably the only actor of his times who always experimented and re-invented himself. The actor through out his 25 years of journey traversed across many barriers of genre, characterization and diction. Nagarjuna always experiments with his roles, he has done youthful entertainers like Shiva, tragedic films like Majnu, Antham, romantic entertainers like Geethanjali, Ninne Pelladatha, Mass entertainers like Mass, Ragada along with the devotional films like Annamayya, Sri Rama Dasu.
With Nag stepping into 50 plus and Naga Chaitanya taking up the similar profession, the Tollywood Manmadhudu is accepting the roles that suits his age and slowly stepping out of love entertainers. Nag has currently accepted distinct subjects, a period film Rajanna, a socio-fantasy Damarukam and a devotional genre Shirdi Sai Baba.
Victory Venkatesh too wanted to break the monotony and try out different genres after successfully completing his 25 years of career in Telugu Film Industry. Venky feels that it’s high time to switch the gears by taking the next steps of his career trying to encourage offbeat. Though the experimental Nagavalli failed at the Box-Office, Venky has not lost the confidence and he will soon be seen in the role of the spiritual master, Swami Vivekananda, a film based on the life of the 19th century Vedantist. Apart from his current project Ganga- The Bodyguard, the Victory star is teaming up with Prince Mahesh for a top-shot multi-starrer ‘Seetamma Vaakitlo Sirimalle Chettu’ in the direction of Srikanth Addala.
It is commendable attempt as all the four biggies Chiranjeevi, Bala Krishna Nagarjuna and Venkatesh are thinking out of the box and are working on challenging and meaningful projects for the audiences.
