Chiru wants real lifeCM

HYDERABAD: Triggering immense speculation of a possible assurance from the Congress high command, Prajarajyam Party president Chiranjeevi asserted on Tuesday that the people of Andhra Pradesh were in favour of him becoming the chief minister. He also made it clear that his career as a film actor is over and that he would remain in active politics.
The PRP chief, whose party is in the final stages of a merger with the ruling Congress, made this statement while replying to questions at the launch of a TV channel here on Tuesday.
When asked if he would consider donning the role of chief minister in a film, Chiranjeevi said: "Why CM in cinema? People want to see me as chief minister in real life." The actor-turned-politician also said he would not act in movies anymore.
"My son Ram Charan Tej will fulfil mine as well as your aspirations by providing entertainment in the celluloid form."
Chiranjeevi's sudden and categorical statement about staying on in politics fuelled speculation as to whether he has been assured of a key role for the Congress party in the state which has seen instability and in-fighting ever since the demise of former chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy in September 2009. PRP sources had claimed in the past that their leader was assured that he would lead the Congress campaign in the 2014 elections, a claim that Congress has not been able to confirm so far.
The significant political development is also likely to queer the pitch for incumbent chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, who is perceiving threat to his chair from several aspirants in his own cabinet including PCC president Botsa Satyanarayana. Kiran Kumar's aides said the chief minister is likely to broach on the utterances of Chiranjeevi when he meets Congress high command leaders after he leaves for New Delhi on Wednesday evening
